This desktop tool is designed to help users test the strength of their passwords and develop better password security habits. This tool provides users with real-time feedback on their password's strength, and personalised suggestions for improvement.

This tool was developed as part of a university research project to evaluate how the effectiveness of password strength analyser tools in improving user password security awareness and behavioural habits.

Install instructions
Before downloading, please ensure to temporarily disable any external anti-virus software (McAfee, AVG, Norton, etc.) to avoid the download from being blocked. To do this, turn off 'Real-time protection' in the options of your anti-virus software application.
Next, to download and run this tool, please follow these instructions:
Step 1:
Click the Download button
Step 2:
Find the downloaded application
(Default location is the 'Downloads' folder on your computer)
Step 3:
Double-click the application to run it
Step 4:
A Windows Defender warning window may appear
Click 'More info'
Step 5:
The Windows Defender warning will check if you wish to run the application
Click 'Run anyway'
Step 6:
The tool application will launch and you can begin testing!
Step 7:
Click the 'Exit' tab button to close the application when you have finished.
After completing testing, please ensure to fill out the post-testing survey.
